Is the real interest rate after-tax unusually low?

If taxable investors are the marginal investors, then the relevant interest-rate is after-tax. Because taxes are on nominal interest rates and inflation is not, high interest rates need a lot of extra tax-compensation.

Ergo: Real interest rates have not been unusual at all.
